Tofu & Broccoli Stir Fry

Ingredients

14 oz (400 g) extra-firm tofu
2 tbsp + 1 tsp cornstarch, divided
2.6 fl oz (80 ml) tamari
2 tbsp vegan hoisin sauce
1 ½ tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
14 oz (400 g) broccoli, cut into florets
2 tsp toasted sesame oil
Serving suggestions (optional):
  cooked rice
  sesame seeds
  green onions, chopped

Instructions

  • Press tofu lightly to remove excess moisture. Slice into 1-inch cubes. Toss tofu with 2 tablespoons cornstarch to coat evenly.
  • In bowl, whisk tamari, 4 tablespoons water, hoisin, vinegar, garlic, ginger, and 1 teaspoon cornstarch.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli, ¼ teaspoon salt, and pepper. Stir fry for 5 minutes until tender. Transfer to plate.
  • Add another 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil. Cook tofu in single layer, turning every 2 to 3 minutes, until golden on all sides.
  • Return broccoli to pan. Pour in sauce. Stir and cook for 1 to 2 minutes until thickened.
  • Stir in sesame oil. Serve with serving suggestions or your favorite sides.
