Instructions

  • If using wooden skewers, soak in warm water for 20 to 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  • Slice tofu into 4 vertical slabs. Cover with kitchen towel and weigh down to press for 15 to 30 minutes. Cut into cubes.
  • In jar, combine tamari, lime juice, mustard, maple syrup, 1 tablespoon olive oil, cayenne, garlic powder, and onion powder. Shake well to mix.
  • Transfer tofu cubes to reusable bag, pour in marinade, and toss gently. Marinate for at least 15 minutes at room temperature or up to 8 hours in the fridge, flipping occasionally.
  • Thread tofu cubes onto skewers, pressing closely together. Reserve any excess marinade.
  • Preheat oven grill to high. Lightly oil wire rack and place skewers on top.
  • Grill, rotating every 4 minutes, for 16 minutes total. Brush with reserved marinade as they cook.
  • Remove from oven and serve with Roasted Garlic Hummus.
